master plans and studies
Master planning is a process that determines a community’s goals and aspirations in terms of community development. Long-range plans paint the “big picture” of what we would like our community to look, sound, and feel like years into the future. The master planning process involves the public’s input, as well as approval and adoption by City Council. Studies are used as a tool to collect information about current conditions. This data then informs project costs, planning priorities, and existing resources to achieve the master planning goals.
The City of Socorro has adopted a number of master plans including its Comprehensive Master Plan in 2014.
