special events
The City of Socorro has a population just over 35,000 as estimated since the growth of the 2010 Census. Since it is re-incorporation in 1986 the City of Socorro has grown in community & opportunities. As part of the City’s Quality of Life strategies, the City’s special events include strategies for bringing new & existing residents together under the shared leadership of the City Council. The special events team actively works together with partnering sponsors, organizations, agencies, businesses, and vendors to consistently push the boundaries of what is capable of providing the community with a wide array of experiences to build on family memories. By City Policy, absolutely no campaigning or campaign propaganda are allowed onto City Events.
2026 Color Run/Walk & Easter Eggstravaganza!
Join us for a colorful celebration on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at Bulldog Park as the community comes together for a special event celebrating the City’s 40th Anniversary. The morning kicks off with the Color Run at 7:00 a.m., followed by community activities and fitness classes at 8:00 a.m., and wraps up with the community egg hunt at 12:00 p.m.. Color Run registrations are limited and available on a first-come, first-serve basis, so don’t wait—once spots fill up, they’re gone! Groups of five or more can receive a discount by registering in person at the Rio Vista Community Center or by emailing Hello@costx.us; for more information call (915) 860-8615. Be part of the fun, bring your friends and family, and make memories as we celebrate this milestone together—and be sure to follow the City on Facebook and Instagram for updates and event announcements so you don’t miss out.
