Small Business of the Quarter Awards!

SOCORRO, TEXAS – The City of Socorro is thrilled to announce the honorees for our Small Business of the Quarter for Quarter 2 of 2025! These recognitions celebrate the resilient and innovative entrepreneurial spirit of the Socorro business community and spotlight two businesses that exemplify excellence in community-focused service.

During the August 7th, regular City Council meeting, Wine Down Socorro was recognized as Socorro Small Business of the Quarter in the Food & Cafe Category and Gastelum’s Meat Market in the All Other Business Category for the 2nd Quarter of 2025. 

Wine Down – Food & Cafe Category 

Located at 10245 Socorro Rd, Socorro, TX 79927, Wine Down opened their doors in April 2023 and has since provided a cozy wine lounge atmosphere for residents and tourists along the Historic Mission Trail. Owned by Rachel Torres and family, Wine Down is located inside a historic adobe building along the Historic Mission Trail, allowing visitors to engage with the unique history and architecture of Socorro while enjoying a family-friendly lounge atmosphere. We are proud to call Wine Down the Socorro Small Business of the Quarter in the Food & Cafe Category and encourage residents and visitors alike to visit Wine Down for a relaxing time. 

Gastelum’s Meat Market – All Other Business Category

Located at 224 N Moon Rd., Socorro, TX 79927, Gastelum’s Meat Market, formerly known as Gastelum’s Produce, a long-standing staple of the community, changed its name in January 2019. Gastelum’s Meat Market offers produce, drinks, and household items, including Mexican food products. Gastelum’s also offers delicious Mexican dishes cooked fresh from its own kitchen. Because of its contributions to our local business community, we are proud to call Gastelum’s Meat Market the Socorro Small Business of the Quarter in the All Other Business Category and encourage the Socorro community to stop by Gastelum’s for your next meal or shopping spree.

The City of Socorro is home to many enterprising and innovative small businesses. To help promote our local businesses and support our growing small business sector, the City of Socorro’s Economic Recovery Office (ERO) has created a quarterly recognition for small businesses located in Socorro. Each quarter, the Small Business of the Quarter Initiative will highlight one standout local business in the following categories: 

• Food & Café Category
• All Other Business Category
