Welcome!
Socorro is the best of both worlds; amenities of a big city living in a tranquil and beautiful desert oasis! The City of Socorro continues to be the next big place as development brings in more homes, businesses, and leisurely attractions! What better place to set up your business than in a place where you can have it all!
The Socorro Difference
Socorro is a relatively young city, formally re-incorporated in 1986. Socorro offers a unique blend of culture, history, and open spaces, just minutes away from big city amenities in the El Paso, Texas metroplex. Socorro’s history is rich and diverse, and includes the construction of the second oldest Mission in Texas, the Socorro Mission established in 1682, the settlement of the only Pueblo community in Texas, the Ysleta del Sur Pueblo, the Rio Vista Bracero Reception Center, a pivotal place in the Bracero Program and American Latino Heritage, and the home to Texas’ 5A State Baseball Champions.
What began as a flourishing rural farming town in the late 1980’s producing cotton, pecans, and livestock has now blossomed into a mecca of history and culture. Today, we’ve become a prime site for major fortune 500 companies such as Bosch!
Why do business in the borderland? In Socorro there is a diverse and healthy business mix, ranging from light manufacturing, warehouse distribution, internationally-owned businesses and headquarter operations.
Socorro has a healthy and stable housing market with a high occupancy rate and high rate of tenant lease renewals. Retail establishments contribute to an enhanced lifestyle for residents of Socorro, with national chains, locally-owned restaurants, neighborhood shopping, and locally-grown fresh produce available at our farmer’s markets!
